  • Cleethorpes

    With a population of nearly 40,000 in 2011, Cleethorpes is a North East Lincolnshire resort on the Humber estuary. Cleethorpes was made up of villages that were small, or "thorpes" before becoming a unified town: Thrunscoe, Oole, and Itterby, which of a parish called Clee that was wider were part (centred on Old Clee). Cleethorpes resisted attempts to absorb it by Grimsby and, within Humberside in 1974, it became the Cleethorpes Borough.

With sea-bathing and the taking of medicinal waters becoming fashionable, the 1820s saw the developments of Cleethorpes as a health holiday resort. Replaced in the eighties with a centre, other sports/leisure, The bathing pool of old Cleethorpes was demolished.
